Rowan Driscoll
Biology / Chemistry Teacher / Advisor to the Class of 2012

Rowan grew up on a small family farm in rural Vermont, where he fostered his love for science. After teaching in upstate NY, he returned to school to earn his Masters Degree, enrolling in the Brown MAT program to receive his credential. After hearing about Unity through Brown MAT graduate and former Unity English teacher, Ms. Hsu, he decided to move West. A National Board Certified teacher in his eighth year, Rowan teaches Chemistry, Biology, is a Senior Advisor, and also Unity's Athletic Director.
Rowan spent his third summer working for the Joint BioEnergy Institute researching biofuels synthesis and cellulolytic bacteria with high school students from around the Bay Area. He will continue as an advisor to the TechBridge Program, which is in its seventh year at Unity. Rowan also serves as an education representative on the Oakland Food Connection's Board of Directors. Rowan loves being outside and when he is not working he is probably hiking, snowboarding, biking or just sitting down to rest.
