Unity welcomes HistoryMaker Dr. Jewelle Taylor Gibbs this Friday

This Friday, September 27th, the History Makers will present “Back to School with The History Makers COMMIT” at Oakland Unity High School, featuring Dr. Jewelle Taylor Gibbs.”  Raised in Connecticut and currently a resident of Oakland, Dr. Gibbs is a nationally recognized scholar who will speak on the theme of commitment to Unity High students.  Dr. Gibbs received her B.A. at Radcliffe and her M.A., M.S.W, and Ph.D at UC Berkeley and before joining the Berkeley faculty in 1979, she worked as a psychiatric social worker and clinical psychologist.  She is the author of four books and numerous publications and is active on the board of several national and Bay Area colleges, foundations, and nonprofits.  She has been listed in Who’s Who AmericaWho’s Who Among WomenWho’s Who in Education, and Who’s Who Among Black Americans.  Please join us as we welcome Dr. Gibbs to Oakland Unity High School.  She will be be speaking with 11th grade students in the auditorium beginning at 11:45am this Friday.
