“In some of Oakland’s most troubled neighborhoods, a strongly emotional campaign has been launched to try to stop the street killings that have snatched so many lives. The Stop the Killings and Start the Healing campaign was organized by teens involved in the nonprofit Urban Peace Movement. It includes billboards placed along International Boulevard that show photos of family members holding pictures of loved ones they have lost in the hands of crime.”
