Oakland Unity High School is a high-performing public school in East Oakland that prepares students for college and their future careers. We have been in operation since 2003, and in 2020 the California Department of Education recognized Unity as a California Distinguished School. At Unity, we encourage all students to embody the school values of Kindness, Respect, and Determination, and our families appreciate us for being a small, safe, and supportive environment where their students can learn and grow. Our class sizes are small, our students are known well by teachers and administrators, and we work to support every student on their path to graduation and success after high school.
On average, over 90% of our students graduate with an A-G diploma and over 60% of each year’s graduates are accepted into a four-year college program. In addition, our students consistently outperform both the school district and state averages on the SBAC.
While Unity is a small school, we strive to provide our students with a range of experiences outside of the classroom including:
- Sports: Soccer, Volleyball, Cross Country, Track and Field, Basketball, Baseball, and Flag Football
- Clubs: Art Glub, Garden Club, Students in Action, Black Student Union, Outdoor Club, Video Game Club, Link Crew, Associated Student Body, Yearbook, Chess Club
- Community service opportunities
- Dual enrollment in community college classes
- A robust student activities program that includes: Homecoming, pep rallies, a fashion show, two spirit weeks, two semi-formal whole school dances, senior prom, a spring festival, and a water day
- College campus visits at each grade level to public and private universities both within and outside of the Bay Area
