Laney College is having it’s Career and Technical Education Open House on Saturday, April 27th from 10am to 3pm. Participating departments include machine and wood technology,carpentry, architecture/engineering, graphic arts, photography, biomanufacturing, cosmetology, environmental control technology, electricity,culinary arts, welding, green jobs and media communications. There will be open shops, demos, raffles and lunch. The event is targeted towards school students, but is also open to the general public. To show our appreciation for spending a Saturday with us we are paying stipends to community/non-profit youth leaders, high school teachers and counselors. The stipends are $100 each and we still have some slots left. It’s on a first come, first serve basis. Please email me if you are interested. To get the stipend, we just ask that you visit at least 5 shops (please get a stamp at each shop). You can also enter the teachers raffle for an Android tablet (students enter a separate raffle).
Attached is the flier, below are instructions for students, their friends and family who would like to attend.Teachers, counselors, youth leaders will be given different instructions on a later date. Everyone is encouraged to pre-register at the link below to give us an idea of how many lunches to prepare and how many raffle entries to print. Please send the message below to students and anyone else who may want to attend.

Although you can register at the event, we encourage pre-registration to avoid any lines! To pre-register for the Laney College Career and Technical Education Open House please go to our website (link below), click on the register button, fill out and submit the form:
When you arrive:
-Pick up a schedule which is also the raffle ticket so hold on to it!
-Register if you did not pre-register before. You will be able to register at F-170
-At each shop you visit, get a stamp on the grid on the back of the schedule
-When you have 5 stamps, turn in the raffle tickets by 1pm in boxes placed in each shop or at F-170.
-Listen for raffle results at 1:30pm at the main hub (where the information tables will be near the G building)

You can arrive anytime between 10am and 3pm, but lunch will be served between 11:30am and 1:00pm and the raffle will take place at 1:30pm. Free parking will be available in the parking lot along E. 8th street. Please contact Ying Liu if you have any questions at: CAA.Outreach@gmail.com
