Arts Teacher
Rebeca Garcia-Gonzalez
It wasn’t until late in middle school when I became interested in art. I was lucky to have a teacher who encouraged me to keep painting. Eventually I completed a BA in fine arts in my native Puerto Rico, worked as a freelancer and came to San Francisco to study graphic design. I worked for the advertising industry for a while but realized teaching made me feel much happier, so I finished my teaching credential.
Since then I’ve finished two graduate degrees, and taught drawing and painting at the Richmond Art Center and the Firehouse North in Berkeley. I have taught art to people of every age, from preschool children to seniors.
I am a practicing artist, and a member of several local arts organizations. When I am not teaching, I am painting. Although I have plenty of teaching experience, this will be my first year teaching art in a high school environment.
